The TONI x Road Going collab is here after months in the making.
TONI reached out to me several months ago with the revolutionary idea of the century. He said: Send me your fabric scraps, I patch work them, you make the bag. It was an immediate bond and we got to work.
A lil about TONI: TONI is rooted in transformation and intention. Each piece is made from materials with history: handkerchiefs, blankets, buttons all reimagined with care and respect. In a fast-paced world, TONI values slowing down, finding beauty in texture, imperfection, and the stories objects carry. This isn’t about making more, but seeing differently, it’s about honouring the past while creating something meaningful for the present.
After I received the 30x30cm perfectly patch-worked panels sewn into a padded interface, design of the bag came in waves. We played around with 3 concepts and ran with the Map Maker.
Here’s a rundown of the bag:
An open top allows for over-stuffing, think rolled up maps jutting out.
Books slip in easily.
Inside zipper pocket because duh.
Two side elastic scrunch pockets fit a phone nicely.
I love this collab because we both physically crafted the end product. It’s not just a shared logo.
